He started out in the Army as a DJ at a radio station in Alaska. After the service, he continued his DJ work at various radio stations in OH and PA. He has promoted/hosted a number of shows in the area with Bill Anderson, Porter Wagoner, Boxcar Willie, Ernest Tubb, Kitty Wells, Bobby Vinton, and Charlie Prose.
